The Educational Director shall
assist the chapters in their educational programs by answering
questions, passing on information, and suggested study programs, if
requested. She shall coordinate the reporting of educational programs in
the chapters, and will make awards to chapters when they are earned. She
shall report to IC Headquarters according to the standards of that year
as set by Headquarters. She shall conduct a workshop at the State
Convention, if requested.
The Philanthropic Chairperson(s) shall aid chapters with their local service work and the state projects. She shall keep all chapters informed of the activities of our state project. She shall receive the philanthropic reports. She shall be responsible for conducting a workshop at the State Convention, if requested. The Historian/Scrapbook shall prepare, in permanent form, a written chronological history of the State's activities for the year. She shall be responsible for conducting a workshop at the State Convention, if requested. The ECHOES Editor(s) shall publish a paper three (3) times per year, containing news furnished by individuals, chapters, and officers. The Chaplain shall give the invocation at the opening of the first and second general assemblies and conduct a memorial service if necessary. She shall send messages of condolence when death has occurred in a member's family. The Ways and Means Chairperson shall contact all chapters throughout the State and the International Ways and Means Chairperson for ideas on money making projects. The Ways and Means Chairperson should be in charge of any State Ways and Means Projects. She shall be responsible for conducting a workshop at State Convention, if requested. The Publicity Chairperson and/or Co-Chairpersons shall assist and instruct the chapters throughout the state in the proper preparation of materials for publication in news media, the Echoes and the Jonquil. She/they shall be responsible for conducting a workshop at State Convention, if requested. The Convention Chairpersons must be from Convention City and is responsible for organizing and managing the South Dakota State Convention and shall work closely with the current State President. The Awards & DIANA Chairperson shall be responsible for informing the chapters of ESA Award programs, including those of ESA Headquarters, International Council, and State Council. It will be her duty or her representative to present these awards during South Dakota State Convention. The Contest/Chapter Recognition Chairperson will compile the Chapter of the Year nomination forms from participating chapters. Judging shall be by an impartial person or group chosen at the discretion of the Chapter Recognition Chairperson. South Dakota State Council will encourage each chapter to continue to choose their own Woman of the Year who will be introduced and honored at the State Convention at the Saturday evening banquet. The ESA Foundation Chairperson(s) shall promote the activities of the ESA Foundation: philanthropic and educational. She shall encourage chapters and members to become members of the ESA Foundation. She shall be prepared at the request of the President and/or Workshop Chairperson to present a workshop to advise members of developments of the ESA Foundation. She shall receive donations and remit same monthly to the ESA Foundation. She shall not hold other concurrent offices of State Council, International Council, or ESA Foundation. The Auditor Chairperson/Committee shall be responsible for auditing the Treasurer's books within ninety (90) days after the close of Convention. The Circle of Life Coordinators shall be responsible for promoting the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital activities. There shall be a Senior Coordinator and a Junior Coordinator. The Junior Coordinator will succeed the Senior Coordinator. The Senior Coordinator shall act in an advisory capacity to train the Junior Coordinator; the Junior Coordinator will be the active coordinator. The incoming Junior Coordinator is required to travel to Memphis for the Annual Training Seminar. The Membership Director shall assist the chapters in their membership programs by answering questions, and passing on information and suggested rush programs. The Easter Seal Coordinators shall be responsible for keeping members and chapters advised of the purpose and benefits of the Easter Seal Society. She shall be responsible for conducting a workshop at State Convention, if requested.
The Association of Arts
Chair is responsible for promoting individual member's arts and
crafts. They are to encourage members to submit entries for
judging at the International Convention. They are also to
provide for display, voting, and presenting Best of Show Award
at State Convention.
The Fall Council Co-Chairs prepare for and host Fall Council. The State Project Direct (Includes Hats for Hope) encourages chapter participation in the State Project. She also will remind each chapter to submit number of State Project philanthropic hours worked and amount of monies raised/donated in addition to including in Philanthropic Contest forms. Also, she will present proposed five-year project at Convention in years ending in "4" or "9". The Youth Award Director will encourage chapter participation in Youth Award on chapter and State level. She will also make a presentation at the State Convention. She will also enter South Dakota winner into International competition.
Special Committees The By-Laws Committee studies the By-Laws and Standing Rules and makes recommendations for change. They will record By-Laws changes on their By-Laws copies and be sure it is passed on to their successors. The Long-Range Committee monitors and makes recommendations for ESA and its future in South Dakota. They will review and update Rotational Plan and present at Summer General Board and Fall Council. The Minute Review Committee will review minutes of Fall Council and State Convention and any special meetings called. The Nominating Committee will obtain and present a slate of one to three names for each office, except those of President, and Corresponding Secretary, to the Spring Executive Board Meeting. |
